Our Mission

The Tech Buzz China Investment Syndicate backs innovative companies that we have unique access to due to our place in the nexus of China and global technology circles. We typically invest in globally-facing companies that are inspired by business models, products, or technologies first developed or scaled up in China, but will look at all exciting opportunities. • How do you find your deals?
  We have our own proprietary network of course, built up from Rui Ma’s years of on-the-ground early stage investment experience in China. We also collaborate frequently with partners. So far we have worked with XVC, Huashan Capital, Hyphen Capital, and Interconnected.Blog. This strategy has allowed us to get into highly competitive deals led by Tiger, DST, and Sequoia, just to name a few.

• Which service provider do you use?
  We use Canopy for the syndicate.

• Do I need to invest in every deal in the syndicate?
  No, you are free to invest in only the deals you like, that’s how syndicates work!

• What is the minimum amount I must invest per deal?
  This will vary per investment, but it is generally somewhere between $1,000 and $5,000.

• Do you collect any fees?
  We typically collect a 1% management fee, and a 20% carry on any profits realized. However, the specifics of each deal may differ.

• What is the target amount the syndicate will invest per deal?
  We expect to invest between $150K and $500K for most deals.

• How many deals do you plan to do per year?
  There is no set number, but we are expecting to do at least one every quarter.

• I’m a Tech Buzz China Insider subscriber. Do I get special access?
  Yes indeed! Insider subscribers will be informed of the deal first. However, you will still need to indicate interest and finish the process in order to secure your allocation.

• I’m a US citizen, do I need to be an accredited investor to invest?
  Yes, you must be an accredited investor (or qualified purchaser). The latest requirements for both are listed here.

• I’m not a US citizen, can I invest?
  Yes, we accept international investors.

• Are all the investments denominated in USD?
  Yes. We currently do not have any plans to invest using any currency other than USD.

• I’m a founder and I’m interested in getting investment from your syndicate. How do I proceed?
  We generally invest in founders we have existing relationships with but will look at cold inbounds from time to time. Please fill out the contact form on the website to be considered.
