About

The independent voice
on China tech

We deliver rigorous, on-the-ground analysis of China's technology ecosystem to investors, executives, and policymakers who need to understand it — without the hype.

Our Story

What we do

Tech Buzz China is an independent research and analysis publication focused exclusively on China's technology ecosystem. We publish a weekly newsletter on Substack, produce bespoke research for corporate clients, and organize executive trips into China's tech clusters.

We cover AI and large language models, electric vehicles, robotics, new energy, consumer internet, semiconductors, and the global expansion of Chinese technology companies. We also cover the regulatory and geopolitical dynamics shaping all of the above.

Our approach

We believe the China tech story is under-covered in the English-speaking world — and what coverage exists is often shallow, ideologically colored, or both. Our goal is to provide the kind of clear-eyed, detailed analysis that helps serious people make better decisions.

We don't speculate without evidence. We don't sensationalize. We go deep on the things that actually matter and explain why they matter — for businesses, investors, and anyone trying to understand where technology is heading globally.

Who reads us

Our newsletter reaches 8,000 readers including fund managers, corporate strategists, policy advisors, academics, journalists, and founders. Our research clients include asset managers, global technology companies, and government bodies across Europe, North America, and Asia.

How we started

Tech Buzz China launched in 2018 as a podcast that rapidly became a go-to resource for China-focused investors, operators, and analysts who found little rigorous English-language coverage elsewhere. It was widely shared in investment circles and cited by major press outlets. The publication transitioned to written analysis to deliver the depth, density, and precision the subject demands.

Research network

We work with Six Degrees Intelligence, a China-focused research and advisory firm, to source proprietary insights and conduct primary research for our bespoke research clients. We also periodically co-publish content with 未尽研究 (Weijin Research), an independent publication covering China's emerging technology sectors.
